IMATS 2010 Part 1

For those of you who haven't already heard, I went to Sydney on the weekend for the International Makeup Artist Trade Show (IMATS). I had a great time and got to see lots of awesome products (and buy them too!) I really enjoyed watching the special FX competition unfold throughout the day, not being a special FX artist myself I found this really interesting.

The stalls were great! I loved Crown Brushes - I bought so much from here as you will see in my pictures! Other stand outs were HUB Makeup who had a huge range, Lashes on Line, Il Makiage (who I love but unfortuntely at $395for a palette are just too expensive!), and Ultimate Brush Roll.

I also had the opporutnity to listen to Donna Mee the queen of contouring, who has a really differnet approach to contouring - which I love and have been playing with! I found her talk very useful! I also listened to the end of Rae Morris' speech. (she overlapped with Donna Mee and I have seen Rae before)
Rae is such a great artist and I always feel inspired after seeing her work.

I also visited the MAC PRO store in Paddington as well as a few others. This was also great and was my first time here!

All in all I had a great time and look forward to doing it all again soon!

Take a look at some of the photos!

Feeling very tired after a huge day of makeup shopping!

Emma Hacks wallpaper body art. The first time she tried this it took 19hours! That's right the model stood in her house for that long!
She is a very talented artist!

The Beaver from the Kotex ad.
Looks freakishly real!

The arm from the beer ad where he steps away and his arm stays there...
This was AMAZING!
The closer you looked at the arm the more real it looked. There was even pigmentation in the deeper layers of the skin that you could see from the surface!
For some reason blogspot wont let me upload any more photos so I will post my purchases in another blog!
For bookings and enquiries...

  1. I'm glad you enjoyed my presentation on Matstering Contours and Highlights. I'm glad you loved my corrective concepts and have been playing with them.

Many IMATS attendees approached me after my seminar and begged me for more so I ended up doing several last minute makeup workshops at my hotel the following Monday and Tuesday nights with 26 artists. I've been asked to come back and create a 1-2 week class so let me know if you would be interested in being notified if that happens this winter.
